Burr enlisted in September, 1862 at age 19. He was wounded in June, 1864 and captured in July, 1864 at Rockville, Maryland. Burr spent the rest of the war in Prisoner of War camps and was finally paroled in May, 1865

McClung enlisted in Company A of the 14th Cavalry in May 1861 which was soon disbanded. He later enlisted in Company K in March, 1862. However by June, 1862 McClung had furnished a substitute and was discharged.
